I’m a Mommy/Student

So I’m “TRYING” to juggle being Mommy and a student at the same time. No one said it would be easy but can I do it? YES.

As I’ve mention in previous posts, I chose to take Composition II as an online class this semester. We are working on our final papers and of course, it’s a research paper. And of course, I picked a subject that makes me really think and have to WORK to get what I want. We were asked to pick a pop culture item and how it ties into a serious issue. My Choice? The Crime-Rap Industry Link. We all know about all the crime rap artists commit(alleged or founded) there’s no arguing that. But the joy of arguing how the music is not a good influence? That’s the “fun” part. And that’s where my mind goes bonkers.

Yes I listen to rap, hip/hop Randomly. Would I want Kelsie to hear some of those messages? Ummmm NO. There are people that can listen to the music for just that-Music. But then there are the individuals out there who take the messages seriously. They idolizes these artists and take the message as something they need to “believe” etc.

Haha Okay I’m done…Kelsie is asleep now so I should be focusing but I just had to procrastinate a bit more.

What do you think of messages we and our children recieve in the media?

    Hi! Popping over from MomDot.

I think that even though my husband and I try our best, we can’t completely shield our children from the effects of the media. I think if we start early in their lives to teach them the values we want them to have, then they have a better chance of deciding on their own what’s right and what’s wrong as they grow up.

My oldest is 4.5 and he is now starting to figure out society’s gender roles, but only a little bit so far.
