Piggy Paint Fun for Little Girls

Mommy Jenna | February 28th, 2009 - 7:58 pm
When you are a little girl, it’s fun to play “dress-up” and do the things that Mommy does. Kelsie has already started to enjoy playing with my makeup brushes while sitting with me doing my makeup. Another thing Kelsie has wanted to do is paint her nails, just like Mommy. But of course, adult nail polish is STRONG and I can’t even imagine putting my nail polish remover on those little fingers. Um those go in her mouth-THINK about it!

Thanks to Piggy Paint, now I feel comfortable letting Kelsie have her nails painted “just like Mommy”. This non-toxic nail polish is made especially for little girls with all-natural ingredients. It’s odorless and hypoallergenic which is another great thing for little ones and their sensitive skin. Another great thing about Piggy Paint this Mom approved of, were the colors of this non-toxic fingernail polish. The colors are all very fun and vibrant for those little fingers and toes! Don’t worry when it’s time for the nail polish to come off or change to another fun color, the Piggy Paint Nail Polish Remover is just as safe and also odorless. How SWEET is that?

“Kelsie, do you want to paint your nails?” OF COURSE! I’ve never seen Kelsie sit so patiently as we painted her nails “Girls Rule!”. She was soooo proud of her brand new nails and they dried fast so no worries about smudges. She had her nails done, “just like Mommy” and both Mommy and Daddy approved.

Piggy Paint has this Mommy’s Approval and an A+ Status!

Family Update, Thoughts and Prayers for Grandma

Mommy Jenna | February 25th, 2009 - 2:53 pm

I hope everyone here is well.

On Monday before the visitation, my grandmother had a fall and was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, she broke her wrist, pelvis bone, and fractured part of her skull. :( She missed the visitation for my Grandpa and then was admitted to the hospital. She was unable to attend Grandpa’s funeral services yesterday.

Please keep my Grandma in your thoughts. She is having surgery this afternoon to install a plate in her wrist. We aren’t sure how long she will be in the hospital but please keep any positive thoughts you can coming her way.

Please Bare With Me.

Mommy Jenna | February 20th, 2009 - 2:34 pm

I am sorry I need to leave for a few. My mother called me this morning to let me know my Grandpa never woke up this morning. Please pray for us all as Grandpa was the leader of our family and he’s the only “father” I’ve ever known. We are leaving right now to be with my Grandma and the rest of our family.

PlasmaCar Fun!

Mommy Jenna | February 19th, 2009 - 2:32 pm

PlasmaCar is a fun children’s toy for practically all ages! While recommended for ages 3 and up, Kelsie just turned 2 and she had the jist of it down and had an awesome time with her PlasmaCar! We let her out in the hallway of our apartment and she had a blast grinning from ear to ear.

The PlasmaCar is an innovative ride-on toy that runs purely on “Kid Power”. “The PlasmaCar is a new ride-on toy that harnesses the natural forces of inertia, centrifugal force, gravity and friction to drive on a smooth, flat surface“.

While right now we can only play with our PlasmaCar indoors, I think this will be a great outdoor activity for us when it warms up! Kelsie loves outdoor time and the PlasmaCar will add to her fun we have outside as a family.

PlasmaCar is also the winner of several awards including the Today’s Parent Top Toy! Check out the PlasmaCar today!

So That Was Interesting….

Mommy Jenna | February 12th, 2009 - 2:10 am

So I needed to run to Wal-Mart to grab a few things. Out the door I walk and hear a seriously hair-tingling scream from down the hall.

Steven hears it from inside the apartment and it’s obvious it’s a woman screaming. So maybe it was the Criminology major in me but I have to call the police to report a “possible domestic”

We live in a secured access building so I head outside and wait for an officer to get here. He recognizes me from working security at the mall. I let him inside and he figures out which door it is “Yeah somethings going on that shouldn’t”

He tells me there is another officer on the way and asks me to meet him outside to let him in. No problem. The second officer gets here and I let him inside. I go back into my apartment in case they need a statement from me.

Knock Knock. “It was a nine year old boy playing Rainbow Six and screaming at getting shot”
“WHAT?!?! Oh my God, I’m so sorry”
“You’ve got nothing to be sorry about it! I thought it sounded like a woman getting stabbed to death!!!”

So yes. That domestic was a NINE YEAR OLD playing a very violent video game. And he screamed like a freaking woman. Do you need another reason why you don’t let your kids play those stupid games???

Peek-A-Boob!!!

Mommy Jenna | February 11th, 2009 - 10:52 pm

Have you ever been in that position where you sit there going, “Crud!” because the shirt you’re wearing keeps slipping? Well, PEEK-A-BOOB! has got ya covered! (Haha I’m funny)

Peek-A-Boob Strips are clear double-sided strips that helps “eliminate the blouse gap”. I’m a smaller girl so some of my shirts end up bulky “around there” and I find myself always pulling my shirt up (or better yet, fighting a little one trying to play tug of war with my shirt!)

I put the Peek-A-Boob Strips to the challenge when I went out dancing with some friends. If you’re small like me, you’ve probably had a shirt where you can’t wear a bra with it but then at the same time you sit there nervous about your top sliding around when you’re out and about. Just peel off one side of the Peek-A-Boob strip and stick it against the inside of your shirt, next unpeel the backing and stick straight to your skin! Easy as that! I was out all night with my friends getting hot and not once did I have a friend have to warn me I might have been showing more than I wanted!!

Eliminate those gaps between buttoned shirts, or hide those bra straps easily with the Peek-A-Boob strips!

Another Great Mom Relax Time: LUSH Cosmetics

Mommy Jenna | February 6th, 2009 - 2:47 am

If you’ve noticed, I’ve recently been doing things I can find for us AKA MOMS. I think too often do we forget to take time out for ourselves but hopefully, after some of these finds I have made, you’ll be sure to make sure you devote some time out of that busy schedule for YOU!

LUSH Cosmetics
is perfect for taking the time to pamper yourself! Not only are there MANY options to choose from but you will love knowing they have absolutely no animal testing and are 100% Vegetarian. As they put it best, “Since LUSH came on the scene 13 years ago, its philosophy has always been based on ethics and having the least impact on the environment while still producing effective and innovative beauty products. LUSH products are 100% vegetarian, 74% vegan, 65% preservative-free, and 60% free of wasteful packaging with absolutely no animal testing being done on LUSH products or ingredients”

Thanks to LUSH Cosmetics, I’ve gotten the chance to check out some of their best sellers to share with you and one word describes it all. AMAZING.

I LOVE taking the time to soak in a warm bath. Some things keep me in the tub as long as I can get, even if the water starts to get cold! The Avobath Bath Bomb is one that did this for me! With a mix of lemongrass, bergamot, and balancing rosewood essential oils definitely “awaken the senses” and enjoyable. Avocado is rich in vitamins and the olive oil in this bath bomb also helps with dry skin. With the harsh winter cold we’ve been experiencing here in Iowa-the Avobath Bath Bomb is a must have!

Now this next one, the name alone will catch your attention! Sonic Death Monkey Shower Gel is another great LUSH Cosmetics product. Wondering where you’ve heard the name? Think of the movie High Fidelity and Jack Black’s band in the film. BINGO! This shower gel is complete with Caribbean herbal tea, herbal coffee from Jamaica, lime juice, and cocoa. There’s also Vanilla and Hemp Oil to leave your skin soft as well. And even though he won’t admit, I caught the hubby trying this one out as well and yes I can say it, he really did smell YUM!

Another fun item to check out is the Pop In the Bath Bubble Bar! Now you’re probably saying, Ok what’s a bubble bar? All you have to do is crumble a part of the bar under running water as you fill your tub and get ready for bubbles! An important thing to remember is the higher the water pressure, the more bubbles you get and less bar you need! These bars are fun and bright with essential oils that cleanse and soften skin. Once again, a big plus. “Let this invigorating bubble bar lift you out of the doldrums”

Now I am always fighting to try get a back rub from Steven. Guess what? Yes LUSH Cosmetics comes to my rescue again! The Therapy Massage Bar is a lifesaver! Complete with lavender oil and neroli oil to help those of us suffering from exhaustion (YES YOU!) and relieve stress. Just smooth directly onto the skin to produce a massage oil that you can get the hubby to rub in (if you’re luckier than me) or use it yourself as an after shower moisturizer. I rubbed this in to my elbows really well and could definitely feel a difference.

As you can see, LUSH Cosmetics has a wide variety of products including many more I haven’t even touched base on. When you check out LUSH, you will find something for every member of your family. Another great part about LUSH Cosmetics is checking out the Green Tips they have to offer! We all need to take an active part in protecting our environment and LUSH Cosmetics is doing their part!

I’d love to hear about your favorite LUSH Cosmetics! LUSH Cosmetics definitely wins an A+ in my book!

Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story

Mommy Jenna | February 6th, 2009 - 12:27 am

TNT has done it again. What you might ask? None other but create another incredible Johnson and Johnson Spotlight Presentation Movie, GIFTED HANDS: THE BEN CARSON STORY.Based on the true story of Dr. Benjamin S. Carson, one of the world’s top pediatric neurosurgeons today. Cuba Gooding, Jr. steps into the role of Ben Carson in a way you will never forget as well as Kimberly Elise’s role as Ben’s mother Sonya.

When we meet “Bennie” in the movie, he is struggling in school and is ridiculed by other children-making it hard for Ben to control his anger. With the amount of prejudice Ben faces and struggles of growing up in inner city Detroit, it would be easy for us to see him give up on his dream of becoming a doctor. But with the love and support of his mother, Ben is able to push himself past anything that might stand in his way. Sonya is an amazing single mother who knows Ben’s true intelligence and abilities and motivates her son to work hard to accomplish what he wants.

In Gifted Hands, we see a young boy grow and push himself to the top of everything he does. Gifted Hands is a story filled with inspiration. The husband and I sat down together to watch Gifted Hands and both couldn’t help but smile as we watched Ben’s accomplishments after realized his love for learning.

Dr. Carson was the first doctor ever to successfully separated conjoined twins joined at the back of the head. Each patient that Dr. Carson has, he takes interest in and has helped many families. Honored and respected by many, he has also earned the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

To catch this inspiring and one of a kind movie, tune into TNT this Saturday, February 7th at 8 p.m (ET/PT) for the premiere of GIFTED HANDS: THE BEN CARSON STORY. You don’t want to miss this.
